Neubert Aero Corp. Delivers Dynamic Friction Tester to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport

April 15, 2008 - Neubert Aero Corp. (NAC) has completed the successful installation of the NAC Dynamic Friction Tester (DFT), to the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The DFT is manufactured by NAC Dynamics, LCC in Clearwater, Florida.  The DFT is the only FAA approved all-inclusive tow-behind Continuous Friction Measuring Equipment (CFME) available for use, giving the airport authority both friction and contaminate values for monitoring runway changing conditions.

The DFT measures both slip and roll resistance that can be used in reporting pavement friction and calculate contaminant depth, such as rain, snow, slush, etc.  The friction data can be transmitted via wifi or direct wire cable to a handheld computer in the tow vehicle cab. The DFT is energy efficient; using solar power to supplement the electrical power supply from the on board battery system. Ambient and surface temperature readings are measured and stored during each test, and all recorded data can be easily analyzed and graphed in Excel format.  The DFT is the only “Made in America” trailer-mounted system requiring no dedicated tow vehicle, and is capable of being reversed with no damage to the unit or loss of calibration.  To date, the DFT is used at several commercial service airports around the world, United States Air Force, and Army airfields. NAC President, Tim Neubert, said, “We are very pleased with the performance, accuracy, and repeatability of the Dynamic Friction Tester.  The recent installation at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport allows operations to avoid lengthy delays by FDOT testing crews due to scheduling. They now have the ability to perform accurate and repeatable friction tests as conditions demand monitoring.”

NAC is headquartered in Clearwater, Florida and provides quality safety products and services to airports around the world.
