Dynamic Friction Tester - DFTTM
NAC offers the only “Made in America” precision tow-behind Continuous Friction Measurement Equipment (CFME), the NAC Dynamic Friction Tester -DFT™. The device has been recognized by industry leaders as a "revolutionary step forward, both in technology and friction measurement technique." Understanding the direct relation between friction values and fluid drag or pavement contaminate must be calculated to provide an accurate braking action report. Other methods are unable to produce information that is as accurate and repeatable as what is achieved using the NAC DFT.
The NAC DFT is certified by the Federal Aviation Administration for use as required within Appendix 4 of Advisory Circular 150/5320-12C , Measurement, Construction, and Maintenance of Skid-Resistant Airport Pavement Surfaces Change 8. The DFT also complies with FAA/ICAO/CAA CAP 683 performance specifications. The DFT is an all-inclusive solution - Airports can perform all required testing with just one device, regardless of season.
The DFT accurately measures Mu (Roll) - rolling resistance of the pavement, and Mu (Slip) - skidding resistance of the pavement. With this information, contamination depth can be calculated directly on the DFT. The device is self-calibrating, requires no test board, calibration jig, or weights.
